Lost a friend today.

Today, I lost a great friend. A four legged 12 year old mutt named Naya. My older sister named her after the bottled water. Naya was the best dog ever. She was great with kids. Kick ass guard dog and when you took her on walks, she'd pull you if she saw a squirrel or a cat. She was so cute as a puppy. One Christmas Eve, we came home to find that Naya who was maybe a year old had destroyed the house. She chewed on some Christmas ornaments, got into my present for her ( treats that was wrapped up lol) and some other stuff. Boy, was my sister mad at her haha. We cleaned up the mess.
That dog has been to Colorado and back and to Utah and back a few times! She was an awesome travel buddy. She would steal the front seat and sit so straight like a human lol. That dog had some miles on her. She helped my sister move like 6 times! I have lost count. Naya liked to chew as a young dog though. She chewed through several pairs of my sister's leather shoes. So you had to keep your shoes in the closet with the door shut! I remember taking her to Freedom Park once. She saw some ducks and decided to go for a swim in the stream with them! I had no choice but to let the leash go because she was going to pull me in! Thank goodness it was in the summer.
Naya made some cool friends along the way. She met Scrappy, Sasha, Marley, and some others I can't remember. Sydney and Naya didn't get along very well at first. Sydney kept bugging Naya. Finally Sydney wised up and left her alone.
Naya hated flashlights and thunderstorms. She would pant and shake. When she would be over at the house, I would sleep with her in the closest. Putting my head on her side and her panting would put me to sleep. Not the most comfortable. She loved to run and chase squirrels and cats. She liked my bunny I once had named Speedy. I took Speedy out and put him on the deck in the old house. I was holding Naya back haha! I finally managed to get Speedy back into his cage.
Naya, thanks for traveling with my sister back and forth across the US. Thanks for being a kick ass guard dog. Thanks for being so great with kids. Thanks for the memories. Now you can chase all the rabbits and cats you want and eat all the treats and run like the wind. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. I love you!

I walk by the shore and I hear
Hear your song come so faint and so clear
And I catch it, a breath on the wind
And I smile and I sing you a song ~Send Me a Song by Lisa Kelly
